Chestermere is headed toward sunnier days with the recent opening of Sunnyz Vietnamese Sub and Deli, a new business that just recently opened its doors to the public on January 15th, 2014. With menu items ranging from bubble teas, subs, salad and pork rolls, to vermicelli rice bowls, Sunnyz has something to offer to everybody.
The owner, 23-year-old Sunnyz Pham, made the decision to create his fresh ingredient-based Vietnamese deli in order to gain experience in the business world. Pham wanted to open up his business in Chestermere because of the support of a smaller community. With the inevitable growth of Chestermere’s population within the next few years, Pham says it is not only the ideal community, but also the best time to start up a family business. The focus of Sunnyz Vietnamese Sub and Deli is to cater to all of the needs of their customers, especially the kids who walk through Sunnyz doors. Explaining this, Sunnyz added that he believes it is very important for Chestermere to have an alternative place where kids can come and feel welcomed in a comfortable atmosphere, and to keep kids in Chestermere in order to support small, local businesses.

Pham’s plan for his deli is to offer traditional and authentic Vietnamese subs, along with his other advertised food choices. “Our subs and bubble teas will always be here to offer,” Sunnyz says, “however, our soups will be advertised in the future on menu boards in the store only. I want to keep our secondary offers fun and surprising to first time customers.” With an advertised 100% guaranteed freshness seal, Chestermere can be assured that each time they sink their teeth into any of Sunnyz menu items, they will be met with the same fresh taste as a homemade meal. With 21 different flavours of bubble tea, consumers are also given the option as to whether they want their bubble tea made with powder or real ingredient base. In the future, Sunnyz also hopes to add wings to his menu.

In a small and rapidly growing community such as Chestermere, it has been shown in the past that small local businesses need to stand out in terms of what they can offer their customers. This is so that local potential customers do not feel the need to leave the community in order to be served with the customer service that they are looking for, with food that is just as comparable. Sunnyz believes that in order to keep customers coming back, he will not focus on advertising, but by offering service that people will talk to their friends about. “The most important thing is service and food,” Sunnyz says, “the food must be fresh and good; people are more likely to believe their friends than my advertising.”

In the future, Sunnyz hopes to open more locations in Calgary and surrounding locations. If you are interested in trying something new, visit Sunnyz Vietnamese Sub and Deli located at #105-320 Westcreek Drive. The store is furnished with high-stool tables as well as couch and tables in the sitting area. Be prepared to get comfy and experience Sunnyz 100% guaranteed fresh Vietnamese food!
