Dr. Gabby Rotaru is the owner of Chestermere Veterinary Clinic and has over 17 years experience in veterinary medicine for small animals. The clinic deals primarily with cats and dogs and have pretty much seen it all in their many years serving Chestermere.
Dr. Rotaru’s career began in her home country of Romania where she attended and graduated from University earning her Degree in Veterinary Medicine. She and her husband, who also happens to be a veterinarian, came to Canada in 2001. They chose Canada to live because of the high standards our country holds in veterinary care.
Dr. Rotaru has been working in Chestermere at the Chestermere Veterinary Clinic since 2006, eventually taking over the ownership in 2010. Although a small office, they are efficient and friendly with two veterinarians, two technicians, two receptionists and one clinic administrator. The Chestermere Veterinary Clinic currently serves between 3000-3500 patients. Dr. Rotaru is proud of her team, adding that they all have a great attitude and possess a passion for animals.
This team of animal health care professionals offer their clients high quality service through a double accreditation. In addition to the mandatory Alberta Veterinary Medical Association (AB.VMA) accreditation, Chestermere Veterinary Clinic has also worked hard to achieve accreditation through American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). The AAHA accreditation helps ensure that the veterinary practice is operating at a high level of standards in pet care by staying up-to-date with education, training and equipment.
Chestermere Veterinary Clinic can offer all the same exams that can be performed at other veterinary offices as well they are happy to assist with emergency situations during clinic hours although Dr. Rotaru herself has a special interest in both animal dentistry and internal medicine.
Dentistry requires a great deal of training in order to stay up to date on procedures, which Dr. Rotaru certainly takes the time to do. By investing in state of the art technology and equipment, Chestermere Veterinary Clinic is able to offer digital dental x-rays which helps to find out the pathology under the gum line exposing deeper problems. They can also perform dental cleanings and extractions and in an effort to even further her scope of dentistry, Dr. Rotaru is currently training for more complicated dental procedures.
Internal medicine is one of the most diverse, interesting and challenging areas of veterinary medicine. It requires veterinarians to apply a deep understanding of the vast area of science to diagnose and treat diseases and illnesses effectively. Chestermere Veterinary Clinic strives to do just that, and then communicates with their clients the details of the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, so that the client feels completely comfortable with the entire process.
Every client will receive a report card on their pet’s health following each visit to Chestermere Veterinary Clinic. The report card will include everything that was done to your pet including the findings of the physical exam. Any lab results that have been received will be documented and if needed, a detailed follow-up plan as well as any pertinent information will be clearly communicated on the report card.
Chestermere Veterinary Clinic can examine other small animals such as hamsters and rabbits although they will generally refer exotic pets such as these to a specialist as they often require a specialized quality of care. They are also willing to make home visits for those clients and their pets who find this more convenient.
As a way of giving back, staff at Chestermere Veterinary Clinic see the importance in helping nonprofit groups who look after the wellness of animals in need.
