LANGDON – The Wildfire Saloon and Chop House has been in Langdon for many years and even if they were pretty much the only game in town, the owners saw a need to renovate, upgrade and change it up and they think the customers are going to love the changes. The place has gone through some significant renovations in the last little while including a new management team: and this team is running like a precision time piece so says Michelle Stockert, Manager of the Wildfire Saloon. I just love coming to work every day, it’s fun when everyone is working together to create a great atmosphere and serve the customers the best way possible”. Stockert helps out in every area but is mostly responsible for creating the fantastic entertainment the saloon is providing on a weekly basis. She loves being creative and has a lot of contacts in the entertainment industry to bring in the talented groups and entertainers. It makes complete sense to want to bring the entertainment to Langdon instead of having everyone go into Calgary for their entertainment fix.
The other team members who play an intricate part in building the business are locals Brad Garret and Cody Lloyd. Both of them have a long standing friendship and also have a passion for perfection. They know what they like and expect and those high standards are transferred directly to the customers they serve in the saloon. Their attitude catches on like Wildfire.
The renovations are significant although they started off to be of a minor nature. The original design didn’t quite meet with the high standards Lloyd had set for himself and so the minor renovations became a lot bigger and created noteworthy changes to the once mishmash décor of the old Saloon. If you’re going to provide some great entertainment, you have to deliver a comfortable stage and a tremendous atmosphere for them to perform. The performers enjoy a good vibe as much as the customers. There is a new stage, new floor, comfy new chairs and tables and something you don’t find in similar establishments, an elevated row of booths along the back wall which allow the patrons to a bird’s eye view of the stage and comfortable surroundings.
The Wildfire’s got talent. Now, if you are looking for an outlet to show off your talents, then this is the place for you. Starting from February 15th to March 10th, schedule a time to audition for the Wildfire Talent Contest. There is $1000 up for grabs as the top prize and several consolation prizes. Semi- finalist will be announced on April 4th, five finalists will be announced on May 2nd and the final completion is on May 3rd, 2013. Competition begins at 8:00 PM, March 7th. Karaoke has also returned on Wednesday evenings with Corinna.
Wildfire features no less than 12 great beers on tap, highlighting a beer called Original 16, oodles of bottled beer, premium spirits and an assortment of coolers as well as drink specials every day of the week. As with the new management, it also brings a new chef into the mix and an outstanding menu. Mike Hasna, chief chef, prepared the delectable dishes and is excited about the new items on the menu. Of course Wildfire offers daily food specials to complement the beverage specials. How about ½ price pizza every Sunday (dine in only).
With 16 big screen TV’s in the Saloon there is not a bad seat in the place for watching your favourite sports and Wildfire specials include beverage and wing specials for sports teams (some restrictions apply).
The saloon holds 160 people including the outdoor patio and there is an attached restaurant that provides all the same delectable delights as the saloon; only in the restaurant you can bring your youngsters in for a scrumptious lunch or dinner.
When some patrons feel they have had too much fun, the folks at Wildfire will soon be able to supply a Shuttle Service; talk about going the extra mile.
Do you have a wedding or other private party function where you need the meal catered? Look no further as the Wildfire staff will do that for you too.
