For Amy Side, owner of Fun Works Studio, opening her own art studio has always been a dream. Doing pottery work for two years, finally getting to open the doors to her own studio is very exciting for the Chestermere resident.
Fun Works Studio, located at 102, 100 Marina Drive, will be an art hub for the community that will offer many different products and classes. Right now, the studio shelves are full of adorable pottery pieces that are waiting to be painted by anyone who wants to visit the studio and explore their artistic side. From cute whimsical animals, to beautiful vases, to the ever popular garden gnome. If you can’t find the piece that you want or if you’re looking for something specific, owner Amy is happy to order it in for you. Also, glass fusion is also being introduced at the studio.
But this isn’t it for the plans for this studio. Side plans on dedicating a large wall in her studio to showcase the art work of local artists. “I really want this to be a place of community. A meeting place where people come and can either try their hand at painting or can come enjoy the talents of others”.
Side also has plans of bringing in two teachers to teach painting and art classes for those that haven’t quite developed their art talent and to increase the skills of local artists. The studio is also offering summer camps and can also host birthday parties, ladies nights and would also make a fun date night.
As Side is also enrolled in University to become a psychologist, in a year she will be a provisional psychologist specializing in art therapy and will be bringing that into the studio.
On June 20th, 2015, a grand opening was held at Fun Works Studio where the community was invited to come check out what owner Amy is calling ‘Chestermere’s own Art Studio’.
