It’s no secret that residents of Chestermere love their Tim Hortons and for several weeks rumours have been swirling as to when, where and if this was actually happening. Sure enough, it’s true….and being built right across the street from the first Tim’s location where the Petro Canada is located.
“Tim Hortons corporately has recently entered into a new relationship with Petro Canada. There are numerous locations across Canada that will see this partnership take form. The location in Chestermere was chosen by our corporate office and I have purchased the franchise rights”, explained Franchise Owner, Andrew Marriott. “The location is very close to our main location in Chestermere, it is obviously not an ideal location to service more areas of Chestermere, but we also recognize that the intersection and access into our current location at John Morris Way can get quite congested, and many of our guests have indicated the difficulty getting in and out of the current location on busier days. We believe that many of our guests will find the location in the Petro Canada more convenient and even safer to access and take some sales pressure off of our first location”.
The new location will be a smaller kiosk style and will feature the ‘Tim’s Express’ concept. The menu will be limited, and they will serve all beverages (except for Lattes and Espressos). They will serve many baked goods including prepared bagels; however they will not be serving breakfast or lunch products. The hours of operations will be 7am to 7pm, seven days a week, both drive thru and inside the Petro Canada C-Store, with its own entrance.
Marriott continued saying, “We will move a few team members over to this location from the existing location, and we are happy to increase our employment numbers in Chestermere – adding about 10-12 more positions within our restaurant group, and providing promotions for some of our existing team. With the limited hours, we will be able to hire students that previously could only work until 7 or 8pm, this location could be ideal for many looking for part time work during the school year”.
“This is restaurant number 5 for us; we are currently in development for numbers 6, 7 and 8 in Calgary as we continue our aggressive growth within Tim Hortons. We are finding that many of our team members and management want to grow within our restaurant group, and look forward to our development into the south east Calgary. We have also been in discussions with the leasing agents within the new Waterbridge development in Chestermere – just off Rainbow Road, and hope to have a representation in that commercial development in the coming years”.
The new Tim Hortons is scheduled to be open during the last week of May or first week of June.
