Located just south on RR 275, it’s worth the trip out to the Rustic Hutch

Just a short drive south down Range Road 274 you’ll find a hidden Alberta treasure. The ‘Rustic Hutch’ is a quaint little shop on the six-acre property south of Indus.

In a building that is almost ninety years old, owner Vicki and her husband have transformed this quaint building into the ‘Rustic Hutch’ – a place where they display and sell their handiworks.

Living on the property for the past seventeen years, Vicki has always had a love for crafts with a rustic feel. Coming from the big city of Calgary, when they found their dream location the couple began farming sheep and diving into that rural lifestyle.

Vicki would travel to craft fairs all over southern Alberta, and guests at those shows would continually ask her when she was planning on opening her own store. And one day, it just clicked.

The now ‘Rustic Hutch’, has served as everything from an old school house to a home for the farm hands. With a bit of a clean up, Vicki and her husband have turned it into a beautiful little shop where they sell hand crafted wood furniture and home décor of all varieties.

The shop has been open for two years and is only open seasonal. Vicki says that she likes to have it open by Easter each year and then closes up for the winter, as the little shack as no heat, by the end of November. They are only open on weekends but customers come from far and near to check out the little shop.

At this time, there is no website for the Rustic Hutch, but you can check them out on Facebook or take a short drive to visit them at 215186 Range Road 274.

Taking it even one step further, Vicki has plans to build a small tea room and a classroom where she can hold classes to teach others how they can create their own rustic treasures.

Don’t see something you like though, well you’re in luck because they also take custom orders so there really is something for everyone. You can also find Vicki at some of the local vendor markets as she frequently as a booth set up to showcase some of her amazing products.
