An Update on Chestermere's First Hotel

After six weeks since the ground breaking, there is lots of progress at the site of the Best Western Plus.

Since breaking ground in September, there has been a lot of activity and progress made at the site that will house the first hotel in Chestermere. The Best Western Plus, coming in at around 47,000 sq. ft., is on schedule to open its doors in about fourteen to fifteen months’ time – weather pending.
Joe Doove, Project Manager with Premier Building Solutions Ltd, says, “the community has been great during these beginning stages of building. There has been no theft on the site and we are running on schedule despite the couple snow falls we’ve had.”
The hotel will host 80 rooms with a variety of set ups to choose from including single king and double queen rooms. There is set to be two meeting rooms with each being able to hold ten to twelve people. There will be no bar or restaurant amenities in the hotel, but there will be basic continental breakfast on hand.
One of the most talked about questions swirling around the building of the hotel is, will there be a pool? Yes, there will be a pool and hot tub (no waterslide as was rumoured) but it will only be available for hotel guests as it is felt that opening the pool up to the community would add a significant amount of maintenance. A small fitness centre will also be on site and available for hotel guests.
Come spring time, the landscaping will start to come into place and the outdoor guest parking lot. The hotel should also bring in approximately twenty employment opportunities.
“In the coming weeks, the frame work will start to go up which will make it easier for the public to see the progress and the hotel will start to take shape”, says Doove.
